As a first-time renter and newcomer to NYC, I had such a positive experience with CitiHabitats. After trying and failing for days to find an apartment in my price range using StreetEasy, PadMapper, etc to connect with other brokers, this company was like a breath of fresh air. Extremely professional and organized - really made me feel like I was in good hands. Every step of the process felt transparent and un-scammy. They really worked with me patiently despite my own unique obstacles (paperwork issues, banking troubles, etc. - I was probably not the easiest client and yet they did not bat an eyelash). My initial and primary contact at CitiHabitats was Isaiah Dunn, who was attentive, friendly, professional, and generally made me feel comfortable and taken care of. He expertly took us from place to place and was really consistent about teasing out my specific apartment needs, likes, dislikes etc. to give me the best possible experience. During the whole process, Isaiah kept up a stream of contact with his colleagues back at the office - Louis Tsai and Sabra Nasri - communicating my needs in real time so that they could do research, make calls, etc on my behalf. Louis and Sabra were both incredibly friendly and efficient - they answered all the questions I had and really made me feel like they were on my side, not just trying to sell me the first apartment that came along. If you can afford the brokers fee (~15% of a year’s rent, depending) I would highly recommend CitiHabitats to my friends and family who are apartment hunting in NYC.

I will start by stating I had an abstract and nearly impossible list of must haves when I approached Isaiah to help my boyfriend and I in our apartment search. I had been trying to find that perfect place on my own and found it overwhelming. A friend recommended Isaiah to me to work with. Armed with Isaiah's knowledge and patience, we took on the city. With access to his database, it made the process so much easier to decide which places were worth short listing. Isaiah and I shared a list we could both add and view listings together. Over a few days, we viewed 30+ units in a dozen buildings in our desired neighborhood. Isaiah helped us break down the pros and cons of everything we saw to decide which unit was right for us. Within 1 week of our first tour, we were applying to the unit that is now our home. I cannot believe all that we accomplished in such a short time. Isaiah stayed in touch and followed up with us as we went through the leasing process to our move in. I am so grateful that I recruited him to help us with our process. I know for a fact we would not be in the unit we now have or as happy as we are with our home. I cannot recommend Isaiah enough. Do yourself a favor. New York City rental market is too much to take on your own without a professional, even if you are from here. You will miss out on the best deals and opportunities.

Prior to Isaiah, we had tried to find a NYC apartment on our own using various websites. It was fruitless! Apartments were gone practically immediately. After a few months and lots of frustration, we tried a broker. Everything she showed was through open houses with lots of interest and competition.
